    “It now springs forth”

If you recall from the post, Emptiness then Life , there was one dream I had left which I decided to surrender and seek God’s dreams for me. That dream/desire had become a goal about eight years ago. It was the first mother’s day after my mom passed away. That day I made up my mind that I would adopt as a single if I had not married by 40. So when I felt my dreams/goals for my life were not God’s dreams for me, I decided to give my goal of adopting children to him. Lo and behold, a couple of months after turning 40 God orchestrated it so…

Learning to be led by His Spirit and trusting His timing

Towards the end of last year I began reminiscing about my experiences during my sabbatical. And oddly enough, I began to start seeing a scripture that was given to me the last week or so of my sabbatical. It was coming up in different ways, whether through a text or my Facebook feed, it kept showing up. I can be quite clueless at times, it actually took me a while to realize I kept seeing this scripture. I am grateful that God is patient with clueless people like me that He finds different ways to draw our attention to what He is preparing us for. Behold, I am doing a…

Seeking Christ and choosing the path He has set before us

In the last couple of weeks, I have been reminded a few times about what we consider as valuable and important. Society and our culture constantly showcase what we ought to long for. It might be as subtle as wanting a good cup of coffee and can be as obvious and complex as wanting a better life. I’d venture to say most of those things would be good and desirable. Yet, as we seek to get God’s perspective, they might not be the best. It is so easy to get caught up with wanting better things that we might loose sight of what is really important. So, what is most…

    Our 2020 Holiday Season

Each year is another testimony of God’s faithfulness. This year was not the exception. We have much to be grateful. As it’s almost always the case, the holidays began and went by too fast. Though we are blessed to have more people to interact with than a regular household, it was a welcomed change to have a few visitors in the past few weeks. The kids fully enjoyed seeing different faces and more so have time with them. Although this ministry is in Mexico, it continues to have an American influence, which is one of the things I like. So we celebrated Thanksgiving, a holiday that has become one of…

What has 2020 brought to light?

Can you believe 2020 is now behind us? Now I KNOW some of us would LOVE to leave all this Covid business behind as well, but alas we might still have to deal with it this year. Anyway, we’ll leave that subject alone for now. At the beginning of the year, I remember hearing in a few Christian circles how this year God would be exposing lies and truth would come to light. I remember how this rang true in my spirit. Especially because I had had a dream in which one of the major themes was exposing things that had been causing misfortune.   Therefore, as I heard others getting…

Reaching the top of the hill

A week ago, I turned 40. Don’t know about you, but usually when going into a new decade it can get emotional. Cannot say I was actually looking toward this milestone in my life nor that I was okay with what that it entails. Yet earlier this year, a young girl with whom I share the birthday, got all excited about us dressing alike for our birthdays. I could not say no to that, now could I?! Now I was only looking forward just to see her enjoy herself. Plus I do like getting all dressed up every now and then. Although, if you ask my friends at the Ranch…

    Witnessing their first travel adventure

This year has been a bit paradoxy, time wise. Part of me cannot belive we are already in December and the other part feels like it has been a long year. Much like life here at the Ranch, this year has been packed with changes that it feels like it’s been forever. One of those changes was back in March, when we were blessed to have a new staff member join our team. It was God’s perfect timing, another caregiver was having to move on to what God had next for her. The lady that arrived, grew up in this ranch and by God’s sovereignty she was able to come…

The higher calling of living life in community

This year has sure brought about many changes. The pandemic has been like a curve ball none of us expected. It certainly has brought about many ramifications. One of the hardest, I believe, has been isolation. At the beginning of it all, we were instructed to quarantine. What we thought would be a few weeks turned out to be more than 6 months. For obvious reasons, most of us could not have remained quarantined all this time. As it turns out, we cannot remain isolated. We need each other. Unlike mostly everyone, this time, I may have been the exception. Living at the Ranch, life still included most of the…

    Generosity and Gratefulness

As I walked early this morning, I was going over things that I am needing to do. Going over my mental list I began to see I may have not been as wise managing my expenses. After asking God for His forgiveness, I began to be reminded of all the ways He has provided and blessed me. He has been so faithful in providing more than I needed. Not just financially but for every single aspect of my wellbeing. Now instead of going over my “pending” list, I began to make a mental list of the different ways God has provided and blessed me. As I thought of each blessing…

Desiring a “better country, a heavenly one”

Have you ever had two significant events happen at once and both being complete opposites.  Like the birth and at the the same time the death of a dear one?  How does one process both the joy of new life yet lament over bidding farewell to your dear one?  The other day was something like that.  I woke up earlier than usual to finish the last details before our trip to go and celebrate the wedding of a dear friend.   Not long after, I found out an uncle had passed away.   And then couple hours later found out of the passing away of a friend’s mother in law.   We often…
