Raramente muy normal (Oddly enough, very normal)
A couple of weeks after moving to Rancho 3M, during a phone conversation with a few of my previous coworkers, whom I am privileged to also call friends, I was asked how I was feeling. My answer, “Raramente muy normal”. Another filled in the gaps or did better in explaining what I was trying to express. Basically that even though I had made such a drastic change, moved away, began a new job in a new home and everything was completely different it all felt normal instead of “raro” (weird). In a way, that feeling of feeling it all normal still takes me aback. That’s God’s grace.
As I ponder about this, it amazes me how God does do marvelous work in our hearts and behind the scenes that we don’t know or see until it’s live. I’m still working on settling in my apartment and making it feel more home…I’ve had a few interruptions. Though I must say that I’m beginning to believe that sometimes God does “interrupt” our plans because He has other priorities. I’m probably getting ahead of myself, but you will understand what I mean soon. In any case, I wanted to share a little of my beginnings here at Rancho 3M.
I arrived to the Ranch at the beginning of July and so I began cleaning and unpacking. I was so blessed to have most of the stuff I needed to start on my own. Some I had been saving and some were already in the apartment…a huge blessing to be sure! Needless to say, the first weekend, was a weekend full of dishes!
On Monday, my training began. Afterwards, I’d head to my apartment and continue with the unpacking and or cleaning. During the evenings, I’d go outside and get to talk with the kids or some of the caregivers.
Turns out I really enjoy going outside and just hanging out. Sometimes when I was done for the day and the kids had gone indoors, I’d make myself a tea and head to the swing outside the office. It was one of my favorite spots…until the mosquitoes got here but that’s another story.
Even when it’s at a slower pace, from the job where I was at previously, the days go by too quick. I definitely don’t miss all the stress, but it has been an adjustment to this new rhythm. I have more interaction with people and kids who come in, since I’m sort of the receptionist too. So it has been a challenge at times to focus. I do love my view though. Since it was summer when I started, the kids were always around. And I’d get to witness cute things…and some not so much, but it blesses my heart to be part of all of this.
All in all, I’m happy to report my transition went well. God has continued to show me his grace and his kindness throughout it all. Special thanks to all of you, my dear friends, who have been praying for me. Truly God has answered our prayers. I hope you continue to join me in seeing God’s handiwork here at Rancho 3M and also in your own corners of the world you may be at.
